Dr. Shafaie’s training and interests include a team multidisciplinary background in the fields of psychology, human development, education, and counseling and their implications in mental health and education. He is a clinical therapist and received his doctoral degree in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Shafaie has been in higher education for more than 28 years and has worked in a variety of clinical settings as a consultant to teachers, parents, and other professionals. His primary research interests are in the areas of parent-child interaction, issues related to psychological development of children, and the contribution of parent-child relationship in children’s psychosocial development, mental health, and their educational achievements. He has presented numerous scholarly papers and workshops at the national and international meetings and serves as a reviewer for several professional international conferences and journals.
As a nationally board certified and licensed clinical therapist, Dr. Shafaie offers individual, family, and group therapy services to adults and children with mental health conditions including: adjustment disorders, mood disorders, ADD/ADHD, parent-child relationship problems, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and chemical dependency. Dr. Shafaie’s unique multidisciplinary background has helped him to develop a holistic philosophical approach in his clinical and therapeutic work to empower adults, children, and their families to address their symptoms and improve their emotional wellbeing.
Dr. Rhodes began his studies in cellular and human biology as an undergraduate student before attending Logan University to pursue a Doctorate in Chiropractic. In graduate school Dr. Rhodes developed a strong interest in neurology which lead to post graduate work with the esteemed Carrick Neurology institute where he learned Brain Based Rehabilitation for various neurological conditions. Dr. Rhodes is certified in Neurological Dysregulation and Neurofeedback from the University of Bridgeport and has incorporated Braincore Neurofeedback system into the practice.
Angeline is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive experience working with children and families in a variety of settings. She has a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. She has a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work in Chestnut Hill, MA. Angeline has worked as an outpatient therapist, a school counselor, and more recently, as a private counselor/coach, working directly with parents and children in the home setting. She brings her expertise to St. Louis Neurotherapy by providing coaching and counseling to parents on a variety of issues to help them better understand the various causes of their children’s behavior which may not be attributable to neurological factors. Angeline empowers parents to identify and determine effective strategies to address continued problem behaviors that their children may be displaying. She meets with children, as needed, to gain a better understanding of the child’s behaviors, as well as the interplay between those behaviors and the family dynamics which may be contributing to the undesirable behaviors in the child(ren). Angeline provides clear and effective strategies to help parents better manage and reduce undesirable behaviors in their children.
